Thanksgiving Travels and Small Business Saturday

Just getting back into a routine after a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

We travelled to my sister and brother-in-law's house

in Pullman, Washington.
Five hours in the car listening to tunes,
enjoying a beautiful Fall day.

Right outside Vantage, along the Columbia River.

My mom Vicki, my daughter Chanelle (16)
and my niece Raya (7) working on dessert.

My parents with the grandkiddos, Chanelle, Raya and Keiton.

And, the next day while the boys enjoyed full bellies, the girls shopped
some good sales at local small businesses.
My Sister Chrissa (far left) and her family were wonderful hosts :)

We had so much fun visiting family and the trip was

a great break from busy life.

Back at Faded Elegance,

we had a fabulous sale over the weekend!

Hope you were able to come in and take a peek, especially since

it was a rockin sale AND because it was

Small Business Saturday!

This is a new piece I brought in.
I used Miss Mustard Seed's "Typewriter" Milk Paint.
I love that it can be a dresser, small buffet or a bar, like I've done here.

I have two of these Santas left and just a few vintage ornaments, and
as some handmade ornaments as well.

Lots of vintage bar ware!

Close up.

I had leftover fabric after recovering the chairs for my dining table, so I had pillows made!

They turned out darling!  I have yet to embark on the craft of sewing,

so the credit for these beauties goes to my mom's sweet friend and neighbor,

Sylvia.

She's a talented lady :)

If you haven't been in lately, you'll want to make a day of it!
is brimming with inspiration!

Happy Shopping!

Son of A Nutcracker!

Notice anything a miss?

After enlarging this phrase

at my nearest copy center,

tracing the phrase onto the wood,

hand painting the phrase onto the wood,

and having my husband,

daughter and son

all look it over and give their

opinions...

nobody caught it!

Even after 24 hours at my space at

Faded Elegance

and

having it up on Facebook....

nobody caught it!

On it's second day on FB,

a dear friend got up the courage to ask me

if it was misspelled on purpose.

Uh...no!

And, after screaming at the top of my lungs...

"Son of A Nutcracker"

I got over it!

Hope you can just laugh at yourself

every once in awhile...

Cheers!

Forever Grateful

Happy November!

Hope everyone survived all of the sugar and spooky costumes!

My kids didn't go out trick-or-treating this year.

At ages 16 and 13, they were happy with a yummy

home-cooked dinner, pumpkin dip with graham crackers and apples,

and helping pass out candy.

We had so much fun looking at familiar costumes,

it brought back many warm memories.

This week, my days have been consumed with gearing up for

In addition, Nest Home & Gifts is also

getting ready the open house there as well!

(no pressure....at all!)

I let myself get so frazzled this time of year and rarely

achieve everything on my to-do lists.

It always goes by way too fast.

There is at least one day where I feel like, 'hmmm...I could have done that better".

BUT, this holiday season, I am trying something a bit different.

I started off this month focusing on being grateful.

There are many blessings in my life, most important being

the health of my family.

When it all comes down to it, heading into the holiday season

should be a reminder to all of us that it's the perfect time to

focus on family.

I am blessed with a happy, healthy family...

and for that

I am forever grateful.

Cheers from my family to yours!
