Burnishing Technique and New Projects

I've been playing around with a new technique for transferring images onto wood.

I wanted something that would be simple and cheap, but that also

delivered good results.

I purchased a burnishing tool from Michael's for $16.00,

and used my 40% off coupon.

So far so good!

Here are a two samples I did...

Blue foot stool-
Yes, it's off centered (rookie error!). I used a Sharpie Paint Pen
over the burnished image, but decided about half way through that
I didn't like the crisp look.  Therefore, I sanded down and
started over.

This is more of the look I was hoping to
acheive and was able to do on the second piece.
I wanted it to look aged and weathered.

I will be bringing both pieces into Faded tomorrow.

My kids are FINALLY out of school...

It is officially

SUMMER!

I spent the better part of their last day

doing a custom paint job.

Thank goodness it was SUNNY!!!

I invited a good friend over who also had some

painting projects of her own and we cranked

the tunes and got to work.

A nice lunch on the patio about 2:00pm, followed by another

good friend joinging us, which

turned into opening a bottle (or two) of wine...

and our painting party was in full swing!

Really, it was a good excuse to celebrate

the end of the schoolyear!

This antique dresser/sideboard was already primered for me, which was not what I usually do since I use ASCP, but its a project that the owner's husband had started and then she had me take over.

The doors were not primered as you can see.

A light sanding and waxing after a coat of Old White.

How cool is the hardware?

Ta-dah!

Here's looking to more days like these!

I hope your summer is in full swing!

Cheers!

Lots of Inventory...Lots of Love

Here are just a few things I have gathered up on recent garage sale hunts.  I have two large silver trays that would dress up any sideboard, small tins to store your JUNK!, and lots of sconces in many colors and sizes.

I have had this queen headboard for awhile and finally stumbled upon a nightstand to make a complete bed set.

I chose a neutral color that would compliment any palette.  This headboard is a full/queen.

The nightstand was in poor shape!

Also in a neutral to match the headboard.

Because of lighting in this room, the two pieces appear to be painted in different colors.  I assure you they are painted in the same :)

This was my score of the week, a little telephone table for an entryway.

I chose my favorite colors these days, a mix of Provence and Duck Egg ASCP.

I tried a new crackle technique on the drawers.

I wasn't sure I liked it right away, but I've decided it looks pretty good!

So, my daughter had her Sweet Sixteen party this weekend.....

Where did the time go?

Wasn't it just yesterday when she left a note on my pillow

as she headed off to her first day of  kindergarten?

I know the note is stashed away amongst many treasured memories,

but I still vividly recall how my heart felt when I read it.

Do you know the feeling I'm talking about?

The one where you aren't sure if your heart can hold

anymore love for this amazing being...

sniff, sniff.

I need a tissue.

We had nine 16-year-old girls at the house for a taco bar dinner and then we headed to the beach for volleyball.  These girls are wonderful friends, some of which my daughter has known since she was two.  It has been such a joy to see these friendships continue to grow.

We headed back to the house for a night of birthday cake, Italian sodas, games, movies, laughs and maybe just an hour or two of sleep...I still don't know why people call them 'sleepovers'.

:)

Even on a cloudy evening, The Pacific Northwest is breathtaking!

Eventually our Summer will arrive, but in meantime I hope you all are out enjoying whatever it is that makes you happy!

Hugs,

Cheree
