Springtime In Paris Event

Just returned home from a quick trip down to Faded Elegance tonight.  Look what finally found its temporary home...

Believe me when I say, I wanted to leave it right here, in my dining room!  This is a beauty!

I love the little light inside...makes it so pretty.

So, while my husband and I were hustling upstairs at Faded to get this hutch situated in its place, the owner of Faded, Kimberly, was downstairs putting the final touches on the store for a wonderful event happening this weekend.  I meant to snap a picture of the store windows, because she did a fab job...grr!  I'm so bummed I didn't remember!  Anyway, the sun is suppose to be shining on Saturday, so head down to Faded Elegance for the Springtime in Paris Event!  How fun does that sound?  Not only will there be drawings and other fun goings-on, but all antique and vintage items are going to be 15% off...Saturday only!

I hope you get down there, it is so much fun!  And, bring your trucks and trailers...you'll want to take everything home with you!

Have a terrific week!

Get Your Guinness On!

It's Friday people!  Are you planning to do anything fun for St. Patty's Day?  Sadly, we are passed the days when we made leprechaun traps and played it up for the kids, but I want to do something fun.  I was thinking of whippin up some Reuben sandwiches for Keith and Keiton.  They pretty much love anything with m-e-a-t!  And, for Chanelle and myself, I think I will  make our favorite go-to vegetarian dish Acini de Pepe with Spinach (recipe found here).  I know it's not Irish, but it's green, that counts doesn't it?  And, for dessert... minty milkshakes with green sprinkles, whipped cream and chocolate syrup for the kids and Guinness floats with coffee ice cream, whipped cream, salty peanuts and chocolate syrup for the adults (recipe found here).

Doesn't that look divine?  You can thank me later!

I'm enjoying lots of projects this week, some are still in progress, but nonetheless...here's a look:

Ginger loved this old rocking chair, but I had different thoughts.  I painted, distressed and waxed the wood and did my first reupholster project.  It was super easy and turned out pretty well.  I just used fabric I had on hand to keep the cost down.  I hope it finds a new home just as quick as last week's rocking chair did.  It didn't last but a couple of days before someone snatched it up!  Yeah!

This is just the first half of this hutch.  The bottom was a piece of cake and I absolutely love the color and the way the wood distressed.

I painted the inside a charcoal/old white mix.

Until I finish the upper half, this is living in my dining room...

and

I

am

loving

it!

This is a test to see if my husband really reads my blog posts!   Hint hint honey...your birthday is in two weeks!

This chair is one of four.  It also has a matching farm style table.  It looks much better in light gray!

It has a poly-top so it will hold up to wear and tear.

I had so much fun putting this look together (NOT).  Let's just say Kimberly came upstairs more than once to find me just  putz-in around drinking my latte.  Some days creativity flows...others not so much!  I think the end result was quite fab though, don't you?

A little Easter Decor found its way in.  Thanks Chanelle for helping me with these!

My chandelier in the left corner sold, as did the square coffee table peaking out beneath the farm table!

The space in its entirety...along with my latte cup!  We should have a where's the latte contest .  It seems I forget to remove it before many of my pics are taken!

I am working on the other half of the hutch, a new armoire and more signs too!  Looks like another rainy, cold weekend ahead, so might as well get some projects done.  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Go get your Guinness Float!

And...I'm Back!

Hello Everyone!  It's been awhile, and I'm back!  I could say I've been away on a sunny vacation, or that I have been whooping it up celebrating With A Twist's first year here on Blogger, but too many of you out there know the truth!  I've really been busy working on some new techniques for re-finishing furniture.  I'm loving that I can play around with pieces and if I don't like the result...sand it and start over.  Most of my time has been spent ramping up for Spring, which includes deep cleaning, purging and organizing the entire house!  UGH!  I procrastinate on getting this task started, but once I get going, it feels so good!  Thank goodness for Chanelle, she also loves doing this type of thing! As for my husband and son, well, that's another story!  We all have our different strengths and I guess that's why we can make it work :)

Speaking of work, I recently scaled back my hours at Nest, which is allowing for more time to focus on being a vendor at Faded Elegance.  This is exactly what I needed to do, but it's going to take some time to get use to the new schedule.  I've worked at Nest since 2006 and while I'm still going to be there two days a week, I'm really spinning my wheels trying to make good use of my time.  I have the best of both worlds being involved with these two amazing stores (and owners) and for that I am truly grateful!

Since I posted last there has been a ton of product moving out the door (yippee!), so it's been really exciting!  Here are what things look like now....

This is a custom dresser that I found for my hairdresser.  She recently found out she is going to be a grandma!

This will be in her new granddaughter's nursery!

After all the 'baby talk', I searched for a rocking chair and found two!  This is the first one, which is in great shape.

I painted it in a French linen, just in case it finds a home in a room other than a nursery.  It would really make a sweet little addition to any room.

It makes a nice vignette with the French linen dresser too!

This picture gives me hope that Spring is around the corner, despite the that buses were on snow route this morning!

Solid wood coffee table and two-toned dresser still available!

Handmade greeting cards, 'old violet' coffee table, shelf/necklace-holder, French label box and a rustic white side table.

Reclaimed wood word boxes...

Available in a variety of quotes, sizes and colors!

I have a plan for changing up this little nook, let's see how long it takes to put into motion now that I've put it in black and white!

Pennsylvania Dutch table with a poly-finish for durability, vintage candy dishes and much more await you!

Despite being a little off my game, it's been a great couple of weeks!  I would love to hear from you if any of you have any questions or custom requests!  If you are too shy to post here, send me an email @ withatwistdesigns@gmail.com .
Thanks so much for the taking time to stop by!

Hugs,
Cheree
